DESCRIPTION:This year is extra special because we’re not only celebrating New Urban Arts’ 27th birthday\, but we are also celebrating Daniel Schleifer\, who will be leaving NUA this summer after working with us for 17 years! \nFrom his volunteer days to his leadership as Executive Director\, Dan has put his heart and soul into the organization. Since 2007\, almost any time you enter NUA\, you would see Dan\, convincing students that math can be creative\, leading meetings with partners and funders\, or just hanging out and laughing with young people. New Urban Arts would not be where we are today without Dan’s care and leadership. \nWe invite you to join us in celebrating NUA’s birthday and giving a toast to Dan for all that he has done to make NUA a place where students can truly be themselves and be part of a loving community. To celebrate all the love\, care\, and work that Dan has put into NUA\, we aim to DOUBLE our funds raised last year and raise $35\,000 this year. SUMMARY:Messy Makers: The Met Student Showcase
DESCRIPTION:Met students have spent this past semester exploring drawing\, painting\, and printmaking\, while gaining insight on art history and portfolio building. On Thursday\, January 25th from 10:30am to 1pm\, students will be presenting what they have accomplished during their program with their personal and school community at the New Urban Arts 705 Westminster Street studio. Our artists brainstormed and named the show Messy Makers Student Showcase. Presentations begin at 10:30am\, followed by a break at 11:30\, and then resume from 12:00 until 1:00pm\, when we will conclude and clean up. If you are free\, please join us to experience their work and celebrate the completion of this program!\n \n\nSpecial shout out to Met Art Academy Mentors Alexis and Sherly for doing some amazing work with the students\, and Resident Art Mentor Ian who has been with the students over the past month working on some cool screen printing techniques.
