Hi! My name is Caterina Dong, and I’m so excited to be working with New Urban Arts this semester. I’m from Miami, Florida, and I miss the sunny weather every day. I was born in Durham, and I miss the community I left there. I’m Chinese, and there’s nothing more I want than to go home for a few months. I study health and human biology, but I’m way more interested in the human aspect. I love meeting and connecting with people; I can’t see myself doing anything else. I loved teaching this summer, and I know I will love mentoring with NUA. Food holds a special place for me, grounding me through my mother’s cooking and, when I’m away from her, mine. Poetry holds and shapes me, giving me space to process, to love, and to care. I hope to share more about myself and learn about all of you throughout our time together! 😀
