Jessica Chermayeff

Jessica is studying Anthropology and Education at Brown University, while trying to maintain her connection to photography. By combining these three disciplines, she hopes to find news ways for visual communication to empower and build greater cultural appreciation and respect. She began photographing in High School in 2000 and has persued documentary street photography since then. During a gap year between high school and college she interned for Magnum Photos in NYC. She then traveled to Nicaragua to teach children a Polaroid photography class modeled after Wendy Ewald’s “Literacy Through Photography” method of teaching students to write and photograph as simultaneous and complementary forms of self-expression.
