Justine Mainville

Justine grew up in a small seaside town in Massachusetts. The daughter of a secretary and fisherman, she values organization and well-crafted knots. She narrowly escaped dying of yuppie-induced boredom by way of community theater and DIY shows.

Justine moved to Providence in early 2007 on a whim and maintains that it is the best decision she has ever made. After graduating from Rhode Island College with degrees in film studies and communications, Justine moved into AS220’s Mercantile Block as a long-term resident artist. By day, she runs an industrial embroidery machine and vinyl cutter. By night, she lends her hands, voice and backbend skills to Math the Band. She coordinates the Resident Gallery at AS220 and hosts  Sewing* Circle. Justine loves to hand-embroider and make soft toys.  She can throw pizza dough really high up in the air without dropping it. Justine is inspired by cute animals, the spirit of community, positive affirmations and punk rock. She hopes to teach young children someday when she grows up.
