Melissa is originally from western Massachusetts. She went to Hampshire College in Amherst, MA, and recently received an MFA from the Center for Cartoon Studies in Vermont. She was an artist mentor at New Urban Arts from 2006-2008 before she went to Vermont, and can’t wait to come back to Providence and New Urban Arts!  Melissa loves making comics and drawing, but she also loves making other kinds of books, screen printing, and putting glitter glue and googly eyes on things.  She is applying for a Xeric grant to self-publish her collection of short comic stories, Freddy, while she writes and draws a children’s book, and works at New Harvest Coffee in Pawtucket.
