Mike Eng

An interaction designer, Mike Eng is interested in how people interact with physical and virtual products, systems, and each other. He enjoys giving gifts and believes that a great gift is one that makes you think of a person immediately and say to yourself, “this is the perfect gift for __”. It shows that you know the recipient and his/her needs, wants and habits well enough to select or create something that he/she will use and enjoy. The beauty is that the recipient probably would not have thought to buy the object otherwise. He finds creating a good user experience to be much like giving great gifts. He also enjoys tinkering with technology and helping people learn to make technology work for them rather than the other way around. In his day job, Mike works as a user experience designer for a web application called Buildium. He has a B.S. in psychology and a B.F.A. in industrial design. In the Providence community, Mike has worked closely with Recycle-a-Bike and co-founded the Better World by Design conference.
