On November 17th, the New Urban Arts studio hosted Sharing is Embarrassing, our first staff and mentor art show since 2019. This is the first year since before the pandemic that we’ve been able to field a full roster of volunteer artist mentors, and one of the exciting results, aside from being able to accommodate growing student attendance and interest across a variety of artistic mediums, was a stellar exhibition. Every inch of the studio was covered in art: paintings, drawings, etchings, ceramics, wallpaper, textiles, photographs, prints, felt pieces, sculptures, animations, videos, hand-made paper, culinary installations, and other mixed media experiences adorned the walls, floors, shelves, and computer screens of the gallery. Following snacks, three music mentors performed for us in their own unique styles. Thank you to everyone who came out and helped make the evening special, and thank you to our incredibly talented mentors and staff for sharing your skills with us in a different way.
