705 Westminster Studio Fall Wrap-Up

Exciting news in the NUA studio: We’ve surpassed last year’s enrollment! Currently, 232 youths actively participate, with an impressive weekly attendance of 118. This outstanding achievement is a testament to the collective efforts and the positive impact of our various initiatives.

Youth Mentorship: This fall, Dana, our Manager of Artist Mentors, and the Student Team Advisory Board teamed up to hire 11 Volunteer Artist Mentors and welcomed two Brown University Bonner Fellows. This marks the first year post-COVID where we’ve been able to commence programs with a full cohort of Artist Mentors. The student recruiting efforts of our team, including Student Support Specialist, Sissy, significantly contributed to our enrollment success.

A Life After School: Teresa Conchas, our ALAS coordinator, guided students through the college process with in person and virtual college recruitment visits as well as workshops on topics like finding colleges, the common application, and time management.

Met Art Academy: Our second-year art internship with The Met continues, where NUA Painting & Drawing RAM Sherly Torres and co-mentor Alexis Gordon support 14  MET student interns.

This success is a result of our community’s combined efforts and passion. Let’s keep working together to provide creative and enriching experiences for our youths as we celebrate this achievement!
